Evaluation

Evaluation for Identity Project
The scenario for the identity project was that we have been approached and asked to create a blog, documenting research, artworks, ideas, thoughts and feelings. Our blog should reference artists who have looked at identity as a theme in their work, and use your findings as inspiration to create digital artworks to be displayed on your blog.
The purpose of a blog is to let a person record events and ideas freely as individual posts. I like the overall idea of a blog and I will consider using them in future as I think they are a great way of showing the world your works, feelings and thoughts.
The digital artist which has inspired me is The River Hunt  ‘Identity Series’ – My life in post-it notes animation. This work inspired me to do a stop motion video which I did and have uploaded onto my blog. I think this piece of digital media is interesting and is a great way of showing your work.
A traditional artists that has inspired me is Frida Kahlo as she is a painter which does self portraits and this has inspired me to create a self portrait of me and add text around the edjes.
My research has had an impact on my work in relation to the self-portraiture I have developed. Plensa uses sculpture with text so therefore it included both. This has inspired my work as I created a self-portrait and added text around the outside.
I have used a range of techniques throughout this project, mainly on photoshop these include, the lasso tool to draw around my images and be able to cut parts out like my shoe or my keys ext. Also image-adjustments- hue and saturation to change the colour of some of my images to add effect and make them stand out.
I am very pleased with my outcome of this project and think it was very successful. I like the images I have produced throughout the project and if I was to do it again I would make my final piece more of a collage and add more items.

Final Piece

This is my final piece I created on Photoshop. I have included my self portrait and other items that mean something to me. With the majority of the items I have added to the piece I have changed the colour of them by going to image, adjustments, then hue and saturation and by doing this it has allowed me to change the colour of my belongings so they are much more colourful and bright. I think this is effective and looks interesting as I like big and bright colours that stand out.

Stop Motion Video

I created this video by taking lots of photos of my shoes and moving them slightly each time and then when I had finished I imported them into iPhoto and iMovie to create a video. While they was in iMovie I changed the time that they are previewed to 2 seconds then I saved it.

Artist Research

Frida Kahlo
Self Portrait, 1940, Oil on masonite
Frida Kahlo de Rivera (July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954; born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón) was a Mexican painter, born in Coyoacán. Perhaps best known for her self-portraits, Kahlo's work is remembered for its "pain and passion", and its intense, vibrant colors. Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.

 Richard Billingham

Richard Billingham’s touching and troubling photographs of his family were a runaway success as soon as they were exhibited in the mid-90s. Drawing viewers into a fractious, housebound life centered on Ray, Billingham’s alcoholic father, they tread a delicate path between voyeurism, social commentary, and intense self-exposure. Published in the acclaimed book Ray’s a Laugh, these images have been exhibited at numerous international museums.
Jaume Plensa

On 16 June 2008 Jaume's sculpture of a listening glass entitled Breathing was dedicated by the incumbent Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, as a memorial to journalists killed whilst undertaking their work. The sculpture in steel and glass sits atop a new wing of Broadcasting House in London.

My Identity Belongings

This is a piece of work I created on photoshop which include my belongings and items that I think are part of my identity. I created this by taking photos of my belongings, opening them up in photoshop used the lasso tool to draw around them and then copied them onto a new page and placed them where I wanted them. I put my purse on because it contains my money and without that I couldnt but anything. My shoe as they are my favourite pair of shoes, my phone because without that I couldnt keep in touch with family and friends and some jewelery which means a lot to me.

Self Portrait experiment on Photoshop

This is a self portrait I created on Photoshop, to create this I took a photo of my face, uploaded it to Photoshop and used the lasso tool to draw around my face. Once I had done this I selected what I had drawn and opened it up on to a new page then added a background and words that describe me all around the outside.
